At his workshop in San Clemente, surrounded by a half-built rat rod and a Harley in pieces, Matt Archbold talks through a career most surfers only dream about. A free-surfing pioneer who walked away from contest judging on his own terms, the face of the MCD campaign, and—almost by accident—Patrick Swayze's surf double in Point Break. Between stories of Mundaka barrels and empty Mentawai points, he discusses family, loss, and why he still drives old cars with hand crank windows. He now runs his own Surf traction pad brand, Archy's Garage, out of the same shop where it all still happens.
