Jalian Johnston's eclectic style of up-cycled creations is a product of his world-travels, connection to nature, and desire to transform discarded objects into beautiful, functional items.
UPCYCLED DESIGN
FROM TRASH TO TREASURE
Jalian Johnston's work is heavily inspired by the elements of nature. Found objects both natural and manufactured find their way into his designs, including scraps of plastic, shell, kelp, and bone.
From fabric scraps reused as eclectic decals, to plastic trash melted into buttons, Jalian embraces the creative challenge to transform discarded materials into treasured items.

the story:
ORGANIC CREATION
It all started when Jalian made a pair of shorts for a surf trip to Australia. As the shorts became tattered during the trip, he patched them up with scraps of fabric he found along the way. Little did he know, these patched-up shorts would catch the eye of a fashion photographer on the street.
This chance encounter led to the creation of his fashion label, which has been featured in Vogue Hommes International and The LA Times, and carried in prestigious stores like Fred Segal and Beams Japan.
The rest is history...

ARTIST, SURFER, AND LIVING OFF THE LAND
Jalian Johnston embodies the spirit of freedom. Not afraid to leave the well-trodden path, Jalian traded a promising career in surfing to focus fully on living off the land, in connection with other souls who share his reverence for the natural world.
The California native now spends his time stewarding the land on his off-grid farm in Hawaii.
